"OK so in the second episode of gravity falls the legend of the gobblewonker. We can see the front of the license plate says STNLYMBL or Stanley Mobile, but Stan's real name is StanFORD so this is the first instance of there being someone close to Stan that shares the same name(his twi brother we already know about), but how did he get that car. Basically that is all post it or don't. I am just rewatching with a fres set of eyes." -Submitted by Nathan Ho
Who is Stan? Despite being one of the main characters of the series, we honestly don't know much about his past (though we have had some flashbacks).
Buuutttt (heh. butt.) with what we've seen in Not What He Seems, a bit more has been shown about Stan's past life. It provided evidence for two major theories surrounding the twins: the Stan Swap theory, and the Grunk4Gramp theory (they go hand in hand with each other).
This post will talk about Grunk4Gramp, touching briefly on Stan Swap, and the twins' identities and past, which all in all is a looott of info. However, I just want to say right now that this post is twin-centric, and theories about one twin specifically will not be touched on in this post, but later on in the blog series in "Gravity is Falling: Stanford Theories" and "Gravity is Falling: Stanley Theories". Anyway, this post is kinda long (so much searching went into this omg), so I put it under "Read more"!
Now let's get into it!
Stan's tattoo is something that has shown to be something important in multiple instances, such as within a code and one of the Dipper's Guide to the Unexplained shorts being centered around the topic.
While there is no single theory about Stan's tattoo that really stands out, here are a few of my favorites.

"Can you talk about dippers real name and Stans brother the author please" -Submitted by Mary Kehoe
Dipper's real name? Oo, of course! I've been meaning to do a post on this for a while now. (But since you along with a couple others requested a post on Stan's brother, I will be acknowledging it in a different post. I hope that's alright!)
There are many different theories surrounding this topic, one of them based on a short moment during Irrational Treasure.
Quentin Trembley III says, "...And Roderick (Dipper interrupts with "Actually, I-"), you dear boy are on your way to unlocking the mysteries of this great land! So I'd like you to have my president's key."
If Trembley is someone to trust, then perhaps Roderick is Dipper's real name. This would explain why Dipper interrupted with, "Actually, I-", because maybe he was going to say something along the lines of, "Actually, I go by the name Dipper."
Here is another theory:
Basically, it centers around the idea that Stanley (the assumed grandfather of Dipper and Mabel), was the one that died in the car crash. Thus, Dipper's father names him Stanley, but he prefers to go by Dipper.
Another one deals more with a relation to Mabel's name, and is titled "Amabilis and Mabel Pines":
"So imagine this...
"While procrastinating, decided to throw some names through Wolframalpha (which is one of the greatest databases known to man) and ended up with another Gravity Falls theory.
It's a tree... It's a flipping tree... From the Pacific Northwest, basically, Gravity Falls Oregon.
This final one is interesting, and is more religious based. Along with the Amabilis one, this one is one of my favorites:
"Cain and (M)abel?
Stan and Dip are often seen butting heads throughout the show because they're similarly stubborn and arrogant. Stan mostly just wants Dipper to quit his mystery solving (which honestly isn't really that great of a thing to be doing anyway), but Dip's reluctant. A line in the bible goes like this:
Some interpreters believe that Cain wasn't the son of Adam and Eve like Abel was, but instead was the son of Eve and Satan. I seriously doubt that's the case in Gravity Falls, but if Bill, the supposed Devil-like figure in this world, does have something to do with the mark, maybe that explains some of the parallels that exist between Bill and Dipper (and Dipper's ability to decipher codes in his head like some freakish superpower).
Essentially, she becomes a savior and even takes a Christ-like position, just as Abel does in the Bible. The death of Jesus and the death of Abel are often compared; the difference being that "the blood of Jesus is interpreted as bringing mercy, but that of Abel is demanding vengeance", hence the mark Cain has to live with cursing him to never die a premature death. The brothers become two opposing forces in the end; Abel being a light of righteousness and Cain representing perdition.
Aaaand those are some theories surrounding Dipper's name! There isn't much people can go off of, since not much (if at all) information about his name has been alluded to within the show.
Regarding Stan's brother, the author, I will be talking about him in a different post since several people requested it. So keep your eye out!

"alright. The other day I saw a image on the all-powerful internet that was a quick snapshot of one of the scenes in the Gravity falls theme song. It's the part where dipper, Mabel, and Grunkle Stan are looking at the footprint. There is a brief flash of lightning and the character's shadows can be seen. dipper and Mabel's shadows look normal but Grunkle Stan's looks...off. Maybe you can come up with an explanation?"
Yeah, I totally can! So this is the scene in question, correct?
Here, it appears that Mabel and Dipper's shadows are of the norm, but Grunkle Stan's is... Different. Rumor had it that this was a wing, possibly even a demon's wing.
And because of these scene during Gideon Rises...
It could have been interpreted as further proof that the show was trying to allude to the fact that Stan was actual a demon of some sorts.
But I am here to tell you that that is not the case! It is, in fact, the shadow of the umbrella, as you can see here:
And likewise, this is Grunkle Stan's silhouette (what is not covered by the tree's shadow, anyway):
However, this may have been part of the inspiration for the Monster Falls AU, in which Grunkle Stan is a gargoyle.
And that's pretty much it! // kimiko hope
Okay, Not What He Seems? That was one hot Belgian waffle of an episode I must say.
That midseason finale was amazing. (And as a believer in the Stan Twin Theory, let me just say I was riiiighhhtt!!)
This was intended to be posted earlier, but we've got a blog series known as Gravity is Falling! There are eight posts in this series, and here is a peek at what you can expect:

Some of you may recognize that two of those posts were going to be in my "Who's the Author?" series. Well, I couldn't just let them go to waste, so why not?
Honestly, this originally had more posts, but that was too much for me. I may end up writing them anyway, and posting them before whatever episode comes after A Tale of Two Stans.
This series starts tomorrow, with two posts being posted within a day!! The last two will be posted several hours before the episode premiere #gethyped
I will not be adding any more posts to this series, but if there is something you want me to write about in a future blog post, hit me up here, or comment below!
